New Shoots ECE Greenhithe is a thoughtfully designed early childhood education centre, created to inspire young learners through a connection with nature. Designed by Copeland Associates Architects (CAA) in collaboration with Establish ECE, the centre accommodates up to 100 children aged 0-5 years. Despite significant site challenges, the project successfully transformed a neglected wasteland into a thriving nature classroom.
The vision for the site was to harness its natural surroundings, creating abundant planting and a curated native wetland to immerse children in the environment. The site’s revitalisation included addressing industrial waste, noxious plants, and a clogged stream. Chester Consultants’ civil engineering expertise was instrumental in overcoming these obstacles, enabling a space that aligns with sustainability and educational goals.
